On 29 April 2023, there is the 39th IPL match between KKR and GT. The match will be live from Eden Gardens, Kolkata

Gujarat Titans won the toss and chose bowling. It will be an interesting match between captain Hardik Pandeya of Gujarat Titans and captain of KKR i.e. Nitish Rana.


Eden Gardens was founded during the British colonial period in India in 1864. The British designed it as a large park in order to create a space for social gatherings and recreation. The park was named after Lord Auckland’s Eden sisters, who were responsible for the area’s development.

  • The 1987 World Cup final, the 2016 World Twenty20 final, and the 2011 Cricket World Cup quarterfinal between India and Australia have all taken place at Eden Gardens.
  • The stadium has hosted some of the greatest cricket matches in history, including Sachin Tendulkar’s famous “Desert Storm” innings against Australia in the Coca-Cola Cup final in 1998.
  • More than 120,000 spectators turning out for the India-Pakistan Test match in 1999.
  • The stadium also holds the record for the largest cricket match attendance.
  • In addition to cricket, Eden Gardens has previously played host to other occasions like football games, concerts, and political gatherings.
  • Prior to the Cricket World Cup in 2011, the stadium underwent a significant renovation. It included the installation of new floodlights and a new seating configuration.


There are many ways to reach Eden Gardens:

  • Metro: The Maidan station on the north-south line of the Kolkata Metro is the closest metro station to Eden Gardens. The stadium is a short stroll away from there.
  • Bus: A number of buses travel to and from the stadium from various locations throughout the city. The Eden Gardens bus stop, which is right outside the stadium, is the closest bus stop.
  • Taxi and auto-rickshaw: You can hire one of these to get to the stadium. Prior to beginning the trip, make sure to negotiate over the fare.
